Job Description:

Under the direction of the Manager, the incumbent conducts and monitors a developmentally appropriate educational/care program for Infant/Toddler/Preschool children based on the Ontario Ministry of Education approach “How Does Learning Happen?”. The individual is responsible to work with the family to support the child’s learning in order to ensure optimal development. Written documentation and verbal communication is an essential and critical aspect of the educator’s position. The incumbent also provides guidance and modelling to Early Childhood Education students to support the student’s theoretical training.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum two (2) year diploma in Early Childhood Diploma or equivalent;

Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators as a member in good standing. Registration is mandatory as part of legislation in the Early Childhood Educator’s Act of Ontario;

Current St. John’s Ambulance or Red Cross Standard First Aid Certificate;

CPR C certificate;

Clear Police Check for the Vulnerable Sector;

A minimum of two (2) years working in a licensed early learning & child care setting, with demonstrated experience supervising ECE student placements and mentorships. This experience leads to the following:

Mature interpersonal and communication skills.

Flexibility, initiative, enthusiasm, commitment to the growth of the children and the training of students.

Good organizational and problem-solving skills.

Experience in programming emergent curriculum, developing documentation and assessment of children.
