The Centre for Engineering in Society (CES) invites applications for two Limited Term Appointment (LTA) faculty members at the rank of Lecturer in the areas of Technical Communication, and Technology and Society. This is a posting for two 24-month Limited Term contracts. The CES teaches courses in technical communication, communication of innovation, innovation for engineers, and social implications of technology. Depending upon skills and qualifications, incumbents will be assigned undergraduate and graduate courses within one or more of the following areas: technical and professional communicationimpact of engineering on society; social and ethical implications of digital technologies; gender, equity, diversity and inclusion Selected candidates will be expected to develop online courses as part of their teaching load. Limited-term Faculty members at Concordia are full-time faculty members whose primary duties include teaching and service, with no research obligations. Qualifications and assetsCandidates should hold a Ph.D. in technical communication, or science and technology studies, or another discipline that will contribute to CES’s mission. For these positions, the department is looking for candidates who bring a demonstrated ability in teaching engineering students with at least one of the following: experience with writing support technologies to assist students for whom English is a second or foreign language or teaching experience at the university level in the area of technology, engineering, and society related to gender, equity or sustainability, amongst other themes. Experience with developing courses especially in an online format will be an asset.Candidates are encouraged to share any career interruptions or personal circumstances that may have had an impact on their career goals in their letter of application. Concordia University is an English-language institution of higher learning at which the primary language of instruction and research is English. Since this position supports academic functions of the university, proficiency in English is required. Working knowledge of French, including reading and grading student work in French, is an asset.-
