JOB SYNOPSIS:

Under the direction and supervision of the Financial Controller, the Junior Accountant's primary role is to assist in the full cycle accounting process. The Junior Accountant will be working with a dynamic team in a fast paced working environment exposing them to many areas within the finance world. Exceptional organizational skills, self-motivation, eye for detail, and a team player will lead you in understanding how all elements of accounting contribute to the daily operations and success of Whitewater Ski Resort.

Key areas of responsibility include communication with clients, government agencies, partners and staff, a high level of confidentiality when processing the payroll cycle, reconciliations of credit cards, petty cash, accounts receivable, and accounts payable, and employment contracts.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains strictly confidential payroll information by collecting, calculating, and processing payroll. Records of employment submission. Assists with the creation of employment contracts for seasonal staff. Recording of day to day business transactions, recording of cash receipts and disbursements, maintaining accounts receivable and accounts payable ledgers, reconciliations such as credit cards, petty cash, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. Collections on overdue receivables. Certain month end journal entries. Effective communication with our clients, with government agencies, with our partners and staff. Ensure a positive, memorable and outstanding guest experience. Assisting with the day to day operations of the downtown office. Champion a sustainable approach in daily operations, planning, and development. Promote Whitewater’s safety culture. Work to achieve department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assist in achieving organizational goals Embrace, promote and follow Whitewater’s mission statement and values. Maintain current knowledge of legal standards pertaining to waivers, equipment, safety regulations, and OHS practices. Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION:

2 years accounting/bookkeeping experience, full cycle accounting considered an asset. Business Diploma with an accounting focus is considered an asset. Proficient in Microsoft Office computer programs (Outlook, Excel and Word). Knowledge in accounting software such as QuickBooks is considered an asset.

Highly organized and self motivated individual.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including oral and written communication. Hardworking and trustworthy.  Ability to prioritize workload and the flexibility to manage multiple tasks. Problem solver with a high attention to detail.
