About this position

(Please note, this role is a temporary position and will be 3 months in duration) 

The Swamper is responsible for assisting with the installation of screw piles. This role is integral in the set-up, support, pin-up, locating and stabbing of each screw pile.

Key Accountabilities

Takes direction from Install Operator and Field Supervisor Ability to accurately and efficiently execute all duties of a Swamper Manages field-level risks by undertaking the required steps of a Field Level Hazard Assessment (FLHA) Learns to measure and target battered piles Learns to calculate battered angles and utilize a digital level to accurately measure and maintain the required degree of measurement Understands best practices and safe procedures for utilizing rig matting to install piles when surface/ground conditions are a relevant consideration Conducts pile measurements and applies meter marks if required Applies the required markings to the product (such as pile identification numbers, customer order numbers, heat numbers and pile locations) Constantly monitors equipment for leaks and potential malfunctions Accurately uses hand signals learned from Install Operator and crew Understands and measures embedment and/or setting depth, records tolerances and stick-outs, accurately recording necessary quality data Completes all necessary paperwork to support continuous install operations Receives piles correctly when required by maintaining organization as well as properly completing the associated paperwork Proactively manages material layout Acts as an effective spotter for equipment mobilization Assists with basic maintenance tasks, including shoveling tracks and knows the lubrication points on equipment Demonstrates good housekeeping habits by keeping the site clean and tidy to prevent injuries and property damage Seeks out innovative ways to increase production and potential savings Performance other duties as assigned

Education / Experience

Completion of a High School Diploma (or equivalent) is preferred Valid Class 5 Driver’s License  Experience working on construction worksites Experience operating machinery Knowledge of industry-related tools is an asset (sockets, wrenches and some air tools)

Work Environment

Construction environment Usually outdoors, including travel to remote locations Accommodations while on a project are arranged by Almita in either a camp setting or hotel as determined by project requirements Exposure to loud noises Exposure to extreme temperatures Physical elements include bending, twisting, crouching, kneeling, standing for long periods of time, lifting weights up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally with assistance Fast paced with tight deadlines Shift work Work schedule may vary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times
