The Opportunity

The Risk & Technical Governance team is seeking a Senior Pipeline Integrity (PI) Engineer who will lead efforts to enhance the integrity management of interacting threats across over 90,000 km of natural gas pipelines spanning Canada, the USA, and Mexico. In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with teams specializing in Threat Management, PI software tools, R&D, and data analytics. The goal will be to improve the identification, analysis, and assessment of interacting PI threats.

What you’ll do

Lead and coordinate efforts to improve the identification, analysis, and assessment of interacting pipeline integrity (PI) threats. Collaborate extensively with stakeholders in Threat Management, PI software tools, R&D, and data analytics to ensure alignment and leverage TC Energy's collective PI knowledge. Work closely with Threat Management and data analysis teams to identify gaps in interactive threat management, prioritize work activities, and develop actionable response criteria. Coordinate with R&D stakeholders to propose and/or manage R&D projects needed to enhance integrity management practices for interacting threats. Partner with teams responsible for PI software tools to add new functionality related to the identification, analysis, and assessment of interactive PI threats. Perform rigorous validation of threat interaction models using proven statistical and data analytic methods. Assist with creating or revising PI processes and procedures to incorporate new practices for identifying, analyzing, and assessing interactive PI threats. Lead industry research projects, standard committees, and other external activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution For our Canadians, you must be registered, or eligible to be registered, as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with APEGA in good standing 8+ years of progressive experience, including graduate studies. Extensive knowledge of pipeline integrity threat management practices. Demonstrated project management skills, including agile project management. Strong oral and written business communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence. A highly motivated individual with strong analytical skills, who can work effectively work in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong planning, organizational, analytical, problem solving, decision making, and technical skills. Proficiency with Canadian and US pipeline regulations (such as CSA Z662, 49 CFR 192, etc.) Knowledge and experience in probabilistic analysis, statistical analysis and data analytics. Competent programming in Python or comparable programming language
