Imax R&D team are seeking a skilled individual with a background in data analytics and a solid technical foundation in physics or engineering physics, preferably with industrial experience in optical technology and systems engineering. This intermediate-level role offers the potential for growth within the IMAX Engineering team, providing opportunities to become a key, independent contributor. As part of the R&D team, you will collaborate extensively with various engineering disciplines and departments such as manufacturing, installation, service, procurement, and logistics. This is a 12 months direct contract role.

What You'll Do:

Support the development and launch of a new reporting framework for strategic partners engaged across multiple disciplines (engineering, install, service, manufacturing, etc)

Develop a deep understanding of digital projection and audio systems, including the individual sub-components.

Broaden internal access to IMAX system data through development of dynamic reporting and visualization solutions.

Utilize data to inform product decisions and launches through insights derived from proprietary data.

Assist in exploratory analysis to support thought leadership and marketing research.

Show initiative to solve business problems using modern data analysis techniques.

Review and analyze system performance and diagnostic logs to identify areas of concerns, then liaise with Engineering to identify causes of failures and necessary corrective actions.

Author technical documentation & present results to management periodically

Think on your feet to provide timely solutions to field systems in a ‘show down’ situation.

Occasional travel for on site troubleshooting, diagnostics and field testing may be required.

What You'll Need:

Minimum of 3 years of experience with cinema products or equivalent integrated systems.

Post-secondary education in engineering or scientific disciplines is highly desired.

Proficiency in data analysis using Excel, Python, and related packages is essential.

Familiarity with database systems for data storage, retrieval, and analysis (e.g., AWS) is highly desirable.

Experience with bug reporting and issue tracking tools such as Jira is a plus.

Knowledge of semiconductor light sources, high-power lamp illumination, and basic optical principles is advantageous.

Solid understanding of various engineering disciplines.

Ability to quickly grasp complex concepts in a fast-paced environment.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent team player with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary design environment.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
