Laboratory Assistant I, Inpatient Collections

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Classification: Laboratory Assistant I Union: HSAA FAC PROF/TECH Unit and Program: Laboratory Medicine, Inpatient Collections Primary Location: U of A Hospital Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 0.65 Posting End Date: 21-MAY-2024 Temporary Employee Class: Temp P/T Benefits Date Available: 10-JUN-2024 Temporary End Date: 14-DEC-2025 Hours per Shift: 5 Length of Shift in weeks: 2 Shifts per cycle: 10 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $23.72 Maximum Salary: $29.56 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:A Grade 12 high school diploma is required. Phlebotomy experience is required. Successful demonstration of laboratory skills is required. Working within a team environment, good interpersonal skills, effective time management and the ability to set priorities are necessary. The successful candidate must be adaptable and flexible within an environment of change and interruptions. The candidate selected will have the ability to listen, comprehend and orally respond to or relay information, directions or questions in person, over the phone, or in writing in an accurate, clear and concise manner. The successful candidate must represent Alberta Precision Laboratories in a respectful, professional and courteous manner.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent phlebotomy experience within the last 6 months. Knowledge and training in EPIC-Beaker. Recent experience in using Rover within the last 6 months.
