Marker-Grader positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds. 

 ·         Master’s Degree Complete ($33.11/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed a master’s degree. (Rate effective September 1, ) 

 ·         Undergraduate Degree Complete ($28.54/hour) Paid to employees who have completed a four-year honours degree or a three-year pass degree. (Rate effective September 1, ) 

 ·         Third Year Complete ($21.07/hour) - Paid to employees who have completed the third year of an undergraduate honours degree. (Rate effective September 1, )

 ·         Second Year Complete ($18.53/hour) Paid to employees who have completed the second year of an undergraduate degree. (Rate effective September 1, ) 

 ·         First Year Complete ($17.48/hour) Paid to employees who have completed the third year of an undergraduate honours degree (Rate effective September 1, )

Duties

Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement. 
The marker-grader is expected to mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams and must be prepared to provide written feedback to students that will clearly identify the basis of the grade assigned; whether it is due to substantive content, or to written communications, including spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization of the submission. 
The marker-grader may be expected to invigilate mid-terms and examinations for this course, or enter grades into databases, at the request of the course instructor. 

Qualifications 

a) Master's degree in Tourism or enrolled in a Master's degree in Tourism, Sociology, Psychology, Film Studies, Cultural Studies, Japanese Studies, Destination Development and Management or related areas in Tourism.

b) Honours B.A. in Tourism or related areas with an overall average of 80% or higher.

c) Applicants must have the ability to perform the various duties of the position and be dependable and possess strong time management skills.

d) Applicants must have intimate knowledge in at least three of Tourism, Content Tourism, Film-and-Literature Tourism, LGBTQ+ Tourism, destination management and tourism, and associated issues in tourism.

e) Demonstrate mastery of Harvard Reference Style (Anglia Ruskin University), APA or MLA.

f) Demonstrated knowledge in MS WORD, EXCEL and Brock University's Brightspace-based Learning Management System (LMS).

g) It is an asset if you have an intimate knowledge in Anime, Japanese culture, or Japanese language.

h) Work experience in the Tourism industry is an asset

i) Being familiar with or using the “Indigenous Way of Learning/Teaching” method is an asset

b.         It is the responsibility of the member to accept only as many appointments (i.e. hours of work) as will allow their to successfully complete the duties assigned for each appointment. It is understood that members who accept multiple appointments will be held to the same standards and expectations as other members of the Bargaining Unit and other members working in the same course and/or department.
