Job Description

Reporting to the Family & Child Development Coordinator, we are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Early Childhood Educator Program Facilitator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating educational program. This role requires a passionate individual with a deep understanding of early childhood development, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to creating a positive learning environment.

Plan and implement program plans to meet the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of children; recognizing the stages of development

Responsibilities in this role include:

  • Prepare materials and activities for daily operation of the program that reflect goals and objectives
  • Communicate with parents regarding Playschool policy guidelines, fees and child’s progress
  • Work with community agencies when required to ensure program meets the needs of all children
  • Providing opportunities for children ages 3 - 4 years to engage in play centered activities
  • Facilitating social interaction opportunities for the children
  • Role-modelling healthy interactions using evidence-based practices
  • Providing information and resources to caregivers
  • Planning playschool social/recreational activities that enhance children's developmental skills
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work/play environment
  • Implementing safety standards in children's activities and child monitoring
  • Leading/assisting in emergency situations
  • Organizing field trips for children
  • Meeting/discussing children's progress with parents/guardians
  • Providing quality customer service to external clients and internal staff.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, patient and have a love of children. You will also possess:

  • Level 2 Early Childhood Educator and/ or equivalent training
  • Valid class 5 license with an acceptable driver's abstract
  • Reliable vehicle to be used for work purposes (team meetings, etc.)
  • Experience working with groups of children
  • Experience working with parent/caregivers
  • CPR/First Aid with AED Certificate
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to use tact, diplomacy, and mature judgment
  • The ability to provide safe and effective child development activities while monitoring/supervising
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records and Child Intervention Check to be provided before start date


Additional Information

Work Schedule:

This 12 month term position starts from August 9, 2024 and until July 4, 2025. This position entails a 35-hour work week, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break.

Pay Rate: $32.81 to $38.60 per hour.
