POSITION SUMMARY:
Drives an electric-powered counter balance fork truck in a safe manner to place, retrieve, and move products, equipment, or materials in warehouse, racking and production areas. Ensures packaging area is appropriately supplied with materials, and product removed from 
packaging lines in a timely manner to maintain continuous production flow without interruption.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Must be safety certified on operation of counter balance fork truck in a manufacturing environment
  • Supply materials to packaging, and removes product from packaging lines in a safe, timely and efficient manner
  • Manages movement of pallets of materials and product to keep packaging and staging areas clear and organized at all times
  • Adhere to all health and safety requirements as required by the facility.
  • May perform or assist with duties of other handlers as required to cover absences and vacations.
  • Ensures counter balance is checked for safe operation before start of shift; escalates any safety issues to supervisor immediately
  • Must be reliable with attention to detail in completing tasks with a sense of urgency
  • Should have counter balance experience in a continuous manufacturing environment
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintain good housekeeping of equipment and production areas
  • Must consistently follow instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, and accurately complete forms and other paperwork in compliance with requirements
  • Must be able to work morning or afternoon shift as assigned; normally 6 days per week, and work extra hours as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 1 - 2 years’ experience with high school diploma or equivalency required; Valid counter balance fork truck safety training certificate required
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/CONTACTS: some access to confidential or sensitive information; some internal interactions and/or some minor external interactions; purpose of internal/external contacts is not related to complex matters; no selling, negotiating, consulting, teaching/instructing, or advising; standard level of written and verbal communication skills required for successful job performance
PROBLEM SOLVING/JUDGMENT: position is closely monitored and decisions follow prescribed guidelines; some minor analysis required; occasionally makes recommendations or referrals; responsible for solving simple technical problems
MENTAL EFFORT: requires higher levels of concentration and/or attentiveness; average duration and/or intensity of efforts; requires average amounts of thinking, watching, listening, verifying, checking numbers, creating or designing
PHYSICAL EFFORT: occasional duration or intensity of physical effort; moderate energy required in terms of standing, walking, lifting, keyboarding, pushing, pulling, sitting, packing, assembling, bending or twisting; includes moderate fine or coarse movements
