Rainy River Mine
Situated in beautiful northwestern Ontario, 65 km northwest of Fort Frances, the Rainy River Mine is an open pit, gold and silver producing, residential mine site.

The Rainy River Mine, located adjacent to the Ontario / Minnesota border is 65 Kilometers northwest of Fort Frances, Ontario and is situated half way between Winnipeg, Manitoba and Thunder Bay, Ontario The area is home to more than 130 species of birds and large populations of moose, black bear and deer. About The Role

Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off

Position Reports To: Exploration Manager

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the position is responsible for field support to the Exploration team.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare drill core for logging and assist the geologist in the collection of analytical data. Comply with QA/QC sampling procedures i.e. duplicates, insertion of standard & blanks. Perform geotechnical core logging (RQD, core recovery) Core cutting Assist with weekly drill inspections Coordinate drill pad preparation with the contractor and/or New Gold operation team. Manage sample submission process, including quality control and shipment tracking Sieve, store and manage the sample chips Assist with prospecting activities, soil sampling, line cutting. Manage and look after the assigned resources, inventory, and equipment i.e. vehicle, radio’s, trailer, etc. Other related duties to support the team as required

Qualifications

Grade 12 Diploma or an equivalent or a combination of education and work experience. Physically fit and able to work outdoors in various weather conditions for long periods exposed to the elements. Technically inclined. G class license is required. Experience with sampling procedures is preferred. Experience in an open pit operation is an asset. Previous experience working with drill core or RC chip samples is considered an asset. Demonstrated leadership in safety. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work effectively as part of a team effort as well as individually.
