DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



To function as a receptionist, performing a wide variety of clerical duties including: maintaining patient charts; facilitating the admission/ discharge/transfer process; maintaining confidentiality of information; documenting and maintaining a variety of statistical information for the unit; transcribing doctor's orders; answering the telephone and taking accurate messages. Inputting into the computer and writing reports. To perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Medical Office Administration Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
* Proven knowledge of medical terminology (tested);
* Proven knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (tested - basic level);
* Proven keyboarding skills of 30 wpm (tested);
* Knowledge of Meditech Admission module and Order Entry module;
* Previous experience transcribing doctors' orders;
* Proven effective organizational, prioritization, co-ordination and multi-tasking skills;
* Proven superior interpersonal skills and communication skills (written and verbal);
* Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate initiative;
* Proven ability to work productively despite distractions and frequent interruptions;
* Proven ability to work in a stressful environment;
* Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclustion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;
* Must have a satisfactory performance record;
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety program and practices including staff, patient, and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area; and,
* Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364.

Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
