Montreal, Canada 2K Full time

Cloud Chamber is looking for a collaborative Lead Level Designer to join us and act as the bridge between the studio development team and our external partner’s Level Design teams. You will be responsible for maintaining and managing relationships with our external partners while building workflows. You have a well-developed sense of how game systems, narrative and spatial design combine to deliver memorable player experiences which enables you to review level design work, provide constructive feedback, and champion for high quality efforts that align with the design goals of our project.

We’re looking for someone who is energized by the opportunity to manage and mentor a team of external creators, to foster a collaborative and creative space, and to champion our values.

Job Duties:

Act as a key communicator, bridging communication between our internal Design teams and our trusted external partners. Collaborate with our internal Design Directors and Leads on project direction, strategic goals and co-development mandates. Ensure external teams have everything necessary to produce content in-line with the overall game vision. Raise flags to the internal team for any areas that require additional support and alignment. Review content with external partners and provide feedback that is aligned with the design direction of the project. Support the co-dev milestone review process to validate contractual deliverables for Level Design. Define and maintain workflows and processes between our internal team and external partners. Partner closely with Production Stakeholders to ensure Level Design needs for our external partners are delivered in a timely manner and milestones are met. Identify and implement best practices and workflows conducive to consistency and deliverability of game content. Implement communication strategies for enhancing the cross-pollination of ideas and sharing of knowledge amongst content creators. Collaborate closely with various stakeholders to track game progression, variety, and pacing.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

Shipped at least one AAA project as a Senior or Lead Designer, and appreciate the complexity of taking an idea from concept to ship. You have experience managing processes and a history of leading by example.  Self-motivated with an eye for solution-based problem solving. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage competing priorities.  Collaborative, compassionate, and authentic. Strong organizational and communication skills, with a critical eye for detail. Highly detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to embrace change for a fast-growing organization. Ability to partner with a diverse group of personalities effectively and constructively. Mature outlook on work ethics and responsibilities. Champion of high standards, pushing for progress, embracing change, and challenging the status quo. Uncompromising ethics and unwavering integrity. Willing to uphold the values of Cloud Chamber. Able to respond elegantly to difficult creative changes, often late in the process. A positive force multiplier with a great team-player attitude.  Curious and excited about game design theory and pushing the medium forward.  And of course, we're looking for someone who knows, loves and plays games.

We are Cloud Chamber: a collaborative team of inspired minds who create games together. We strive to make unique, entertaining, and thoughtful game experiences that engage the world.

We believe in the beauty and strength of diversity, in both the makeup of the studio and the nature of our thinking. Our focus on open communication and overall well-being allows each of us to strive for excellence in our work, and happiness in our lives.

We’re currently making the next BioShock. Our passion and love for this iconic franchise is what brought us together. The thrill and responsibility of creating the next iteration of such a beloved game is what keeps us going.

If all of this sounds as exciting to you as it is to us we’d love to meet you. Join us in creating worlds that move people.
