Four year term – August 26, 2024 – June 30, 2028
Saskatoon Public Schools requires a Special Education Consultant, effective August 26, 2024 – June 30, 2028. This is a full-time position. The successful applicant will report directly to the Coordinator Learning Supports: Special Education.

Primary responsibilities include the following: to provide leadership and training to school staff to promote evidence-based instructional practices to support students with significant learning needs.  attendance at multidisciplinary TEAMS meetings. determining students’ eligibility for intensive supports, including classroom observation, review of student data and discussion with school team members. review and approve intensive supports documentation support resource teachers with developing and implementing additional individual student plans assist teachers in selecting and implementing assistive technology solutions to support access to curriculum.
The ideal candidate will possess: a strong understanding of current special education practices; strong leadership, excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively; initiative and a positive outlook; strong time-management skills; and expertise in exceptional learning needs including autism, intellectual disabilities, safety planning for individual students and mental health issues.
The qualifications expected include: Professional A teacher certification; Special Education teacher qualifications as outlined by the Ministry of Education, with preference given to applicants who have initiated or completed Graduate Studies in Special Education.
