partner staffing on behalf of our Client, we are seeking an experienced Environmental Contaminated Sites Specialist to join their team in British Columbia. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in environmental assessments, contaminated site remediation, regulatory compliance, and project management. This role is crucial for managing and mitigating contaminated sites throughout British Columbia, ensuring the environmental health and safety of communities and adherence to provincial and federal regulations.



Requirements
  • Site Assessment & Investigation
  • Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), including soil, groundwater, and surface water sampling.
  • Identify potential contaminants and assess their impact on the environment, including health and ecological risks.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental data to support site assessment and remediation activities.
  • Develop remediation plans and oversee contaminated site cleanup activities, working closely with contractors, engineers, and environmental scientists.
  • Implement remedial technologies such as bioremediation, chemical treatment, soil vapor extraction, and other site-specific solutions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of remediation activities, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and project goals.

  • Prepare technical reports and submit regulatory documents to provincial and federal agencies in compliance with British Columbia's Contaminated Sites Regulation (CSR).
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, including the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, to facilitate approvals and permits.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders, including First Nations, municipalities, and community members, to provide project updates and address concerns.
  • Participate in public consultations and engage with communities on remediation efforts and potential impacts.
  • Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling for contaminated sites projects across British Columbia.
  • Track project progress, report on key milestones, and address any issues that may arise.
  • Mentor junior team members and provide guidance on project delivery and technical challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in contaminated sites assessment, remediation, and environmental project management.
  • Strong knowledge of British Columbia’s Contaminated Sites Regulation (CSR) and federal environmental regulations.
  • Proven experience in field sampling techniques, data interpretation, and remediation technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing.
  • Certification as a Professional Agrologist (P.Ag), Professional Engineer (P.Eng), or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo) in British Columbia is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment and remedial technologies.
  • Proficient in GIS, environmental sampling equipment, and relevant analytical software.

About the Opportunity Our Client is currently seeking a Senior Biologist to join the team. Preference is for candidates to be based out of Fort St James, Fort St John, and Prince George, BC. However, we will consider candidates that reside outside of these areas. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Leading and joining field teams in various disciplines (wildlife, birds, fish, aquatic habitat, water quality, vegetation, soils, wetlands, environmental monitoring, sediment, and erosion control) Contributing to environmental impact assessments, mitigation plans, and proposals. Assisting in preparing and obtaining regulatory approvals for a wide variety of projects such as transportation, renewable energy, mining, oil, and gas, etc. Senior level responsibilities could include Field Coordination and Project Management Technical leadership and mentorship within a team environment Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within corporate culture More About You To qualify, you will need a minimum of a B.Sc. in Biology or related discipline with five years’ experience, and RPBio, PBiol, and/or P.Ag. designation or eligibility. Courses or certifications in the following areas would be considered assets: · Electrofishing Certification (approved by WorkSafe BC) · Fish identification · Bird survey methodology and bird identification · Amphibian salvage methodology and amphibian identification · Erosion and Sediment Control · Plant identification Candidates with the following skills and experience will be considered: Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities (i.e., wildlife assessments, bird surveys, water quality, fisheries inventories/ salvage, environmental monitoring/inspection) Knowledge of the provincial and federal environmental assessment regulatory environment Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and physically fit Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow business, and work closely (both in a field lead and support role) with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations Proficiency in the operation of field equipment is an asset Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver's License.
