Intermediate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

TWD is currently seeking an Intermediate Instrumentation Engineer to work out of our company office in Sarnia, ON.

Job Summary
The Intermediate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer is responsible for the technical execution of a variety of consulting engineering assignments with primary responsibilities in the field of electrical / Instrumentation / Control / and Automation engineering and design. The role will include participating as a member of dynamic project teams with a wide range of types of tasks. The position will provide the opportunity to work in a number of industries in which TWD services including Chemical, Refining, Food & Beverage and Pharmaceuticals.

Job Duties

Work with a team of engineers and other professionals on a wide range of projects including performance investigations, repairs/modifications, installation of new equipment and redevelopments. Projects vary in scale from small single discipline projects to large, multidiscipline projects with project costs. Perform work primarily in the Instrument & Controls discipline; however also provide support/assistance to other disciplines, including estimating, construction management, and project management. Work with project teams including engineers, operations personnel, project managers, environmental professionals, and other stakeholders, to help develop the scope, objectives and user requirements of individual projects. Carry out detailed searches of background information, including previous instrument information, previous project information. Prepare detailed summaries of background information. Develop technical tabulation to support the selection of instrumentation and control systems. Provide support to procurement of instrument items. Development of instrumentation installation drawings, data sheets and specifications Work in compliance with recognized industry standards, safety standards, and various client specifications. Identify opportunities to minimize costs and improve efficiency. Act as role model or peer coach regularly. Provide instrument / electrical specifications, drawings, scopes of work, construction work packages, including the following:Instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level, flow, analytical)Instrument and power conduit schedulesInstrument and power cable layoutsElectric heat tracing system designMCC and Panel layoutsConnection drawingsElectrical Installation detailsCritical Equipment Specifications (i.e. MCC, Switchgear, Sub-Stations, Transformers)Power DistributionSingle line diagramsArea classificationConduit and Cable SizingWiring schematics
Business Development Support Support the Business Development Team (BD) to effectively manage and expand existing customer relationships Support the BD team to grow and develop a new customer base Support BD activities including but not limited to proposal preparation, attendance at conferences, seminars, etc. for the purpose of networking and promoting the company Requirements – Job Specific Bachelor’s Degree in Electrica Engineering 7-10 years of experience in Engineering specialty or Supervisory experience. Able to conduct detailed calculations to ensure that designs meet engineered standards and applicable codes Experience with multiple phases of projects including preliminary and detailed design, tendering, construction supervision and commissioning is an asset Valid Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator's License to facilitate independent travel to project sites and other office locations Excellent communication skills both oral and written Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a range of personalities to establish effective working relationships with the required stakeholders
