We are seeking a skilled HR Generalist to join our client's team on a short-term contract basis to support our non-profit organization. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in managing HR functions within both unionized and non-unionized environments. This role will primarily focus on handling investigations, recruitment, and onboarding processes.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage HR activities within a dual environment of unionized and non-unionized staff, ensuring compliance with relevant labor laws and regulations.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into workplace incidents, grievances, and complaints, maintaining confidentiality and impartiality throughout the process.
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.
  • Lead the recruitment process, including job postings, resume screening, interviewing, and selection.
  • Coordinate the onboarding process for new hires, facilitating orientation sessions and ensuring a smooth transition into the organization.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files, attendance records, and HR databases.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR-related matters, including policies, procedures, and employee relations issues.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs to support organizational goals and objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Previous experience working in HR roles, with specific experience in dealing with both unionized and non-unionized environments.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations, particularly as they relate to unionized workplaces.
  • Experience conducting investigations and resolving employee relations issues.
  • Proven ability to manage recruitment and onboarding processes effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional certification in HR (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred but not required.
