SaskTel Centre is searching for a dedicated and qualified critical thinker to join the team as a Coliseum Operator on a Casual basis. Shifts may include day time, evening and overnight.

CORE FUNCTION:

Under supervision of the Director of Facility Management, this position performs assigned tasks related to ice maintenance, building maintenance and change-over procedures.

SCOPE AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Operates and performs routine maintenance of building systems including hot water heating, plumbing, refrigeration (ice plant), ventilation, lighting, fire alarm, security and control systems.
  2. Installs and maintains ice surface.
  3. Effects the change of building mode including tear-down and setup of moveable seating units, dasher boards, glass, stage, ice deck and chairs.
  4. Performs preventive maintenance as indicated on work orders.
  5. Operates equipment such as a forklift, tractor, ice-resurfacer, floor scrubber and more.
  6. Responds to the service requirements of clients and the public for a variety of events.
  7. Performs janitorial duties in the maintenance of interior and exterior of building and associated grounds.
  8. Supervises, plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Event Attendant staff.
  9. Calls tradesmen for repair work as required.
  10. Performs minor plumbing and carpentry repairs to the premises and fixtures, as required.
  11. Performs general maintenance and repair duties as required, including painting.
  12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 education.
  • One year's related building maintenance experience, including six months supervisory experience.
  • Possession of a valid Refrigeration Plant Operator's Certificate.
  • Possession of a valid Fireman's Certificate.
  • Successful completion of a recognized Forklift Safety Training Certification course.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.
  • Current driver's abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid first aid certificate.
