Job summary:
The IT Investment Solutions Group at HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan) is looking for a highly skilled individual to fill a fulltime senior DevOps Engineer role for our IT for Investments Infrastructure team enabling solutions holistically supporting HOOPP Investment, Finance and Risk Management groups.
The IT Investment Solutions Group’s principles focus on delivering true customer value in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will work closely with Enterprise Architects, Project Management Office and Governance, Information Security and partner Infrastructure team Product Owners and PMs to ensure the cloud system operations and projects meet all organizational objectives.
As a key member of our dynamic team, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing our cloud infrastructure to support the organization's strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in cloud technologies, a strong background in DevOps practices, and a passion for automation and innovation.
What you will do:
Possess in-depth knowledge and expertise in designing, building, implementing, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and automated cloud infrastructure solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS and Snowflake.Design systems to eliminate or reduce manual effort and complexity through automation of provisioning deployment, monitoring, and scaling infrastructure and applications.Possesses expert scripting knowledge with the ability to independently automate complex solutions from end-to-end, to troubleshoot problems, maintain quality with minimal defects and code reuse, and guide other team members on scripting and automation.Combine conceptual and practical expertise in the areas of cloud infrastructure, IT architecture, scripting, continuous integration, and deployment (CI/CD), build automation, system monitoring, troubleshooting, and remediation to architect, develop and deliver complex solutions following best practices and architecture framework from start to finish.Lead and promotes cross-functionality across the team by acting as a role model for learning and sharing best practices of infrastructure and operations; collaborate with a range of clients from leadership, business, development teams and IT enterprise partners to support KTLO/BAU operations and deliver projects, and services.Independently lead key initiatives that require interfacing with internal customers and stakeholders to gather requirements, design, plan and implement reliable and secure solutions.Fully understand business requirements and use best practices and knowledge of internal/external business issues to plan and improve systems and applications in terms of performance, reliability, scalability, recoverability, resiliency, and supportability.Triage, prioritize, track, and resolve production problems and operational issues; use analytical thinking, tools, and judgement to identify root causes and long-term solutions.Collaborate with data solution teams to develop automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates to automate provisioning, deployment, and configuration of Snowflake infrastructure resources.Mentor junior colleagues and invests time to grow individuals in a technical capacity; acts as a subject matter expert to guide and share knowledge across departmental teams.Brings strategic ideas and big picture thinking to the team; ensures security and compliance and capable to reprioritize and shift focus with changing priorities.Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in cloud computing, DevOps, and infrastructure automation, and Snowflake infrastructure administration.Communicate complex concepts and makes sure that everyone understands the message; invites varying perspectives, anticipates challenge; supports the right decision for the team. Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field8 -10 years of experience in IT Infrastructure Operations and/or Software Development with a focus on DevOps and automationStrong proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, with hands-on experience in Infrastructure as Code tools Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef).In-Depth knowledge and experience with CI/CD and IT automation tools and practices Azure DevOps, AWS Code Pipeline/CodeCommit/CodeDeploy, Artifactory etc.)In-depth conceptual knowledge and practical hands-on expertise in IT architecture (Cloud based, serverless and microservice based architecture, etc.), cloud infrastructure and technologies, scripting and IaC tools (JSON, YAML, Python, PowerShell, Terraform, etc.).Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.Solid understanding of networking concepts, security principles, data protection and best practices for cloud infrastructure.Strong knowledge of Agile practices such as Scrum or Kanban, MVP, etc.Expertise in Windows and Linux operating systemsExperience working with IT operational processes incident management, identity and access management, logging and monitoring, security etc.) and deep knowledge of monitoring tools (such as CloudWatch, DataDog, Splunk, etc.)Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex issues and drive resolution.Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer, Google Cloud Certified - Professional DevOps Engineer preferred Professional, or Snowflake SnowPro Core Certification preferred.-
