For nearly 50 years, the La Pocatière site, a historic Bombardier Transportation legacy plant, has been a major player in the Québec economy. The plant produces rail vehicles for passenger transport and is a centre of excellence in the manufacture of stainless steel rolling stock.
Description
Within the EPU daisy, the Production Controller orders and controls the daily operations on the production line, so that they are carried out on time in accordance with the production master schedule. This is a key support function for production.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Production Controller is responsible for initiating, coordinating and controlling the progress of Production Orders according to the schedule.
- For Component, the Production Controller is responsible for planning production orders according to the schedule
- The Production Controller acts as a link between industrial planning, PrSCL (Project Supply Chain Leader), logistics and manufacturing to ensure on-time execution of operations.
- On a weekly basis, provide feedback to the schedule to update the MPS, regarding progress and operational constraints
- On a day-to-day basis, ensure the coordination between logistics, supplies and quality to allow the production team to respect the schedule.
- Define and implement action plans to resolve malfunctions in the delivery of components to production lines.
- Ensure a continuous flow of parts to the production line
- Check the readiness status of planned orders to ensure that production orders can be released on time and analyze Material Requirements Planning (MRP) exception messages.
- Convert planned orders into production orders and release them to production on time according to schedule and actual progress.
- Follow the progress of the Production Orders on a daily basis through close exchanges with the members of the UPR (Elementary Production Unit) daisy.
- Ensure that priorities are carried out as planned in the schedule and are clearly displayed and updated at the shop floor level (visual management).
- Contribute to the verification of the accuracy of BOM and routing data in collaboration with the methods.
- Alert the planning team and the supply chain manager about issues impacting the execution of the schedule (missing parts, quality issues, production stoppage, technical data).
- Provide visibility to the logistics team on line feed priorities to secure production.
- Participate/represent the supply chain department on the production line during 5-minute meetings
- When applicable, monitor subcontracted operations and ensure their timely execution in collaboration with logistics & production
- Contribute to minimizing product processing time and maintaining optimal WIP (Work In Progress)
- Comply with EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) rules and involve in Safety Observation Visits.
- Performance metrics: Timely release of work orders.
KEY SKILLS REQUIRED
Training: Technician Training Diploma (Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain)
Experience:
Obligatory:
- Experience in production planning/scheduling or operational supply chain with relevant use of ERP (ideally SAP) in a manufacturing environment.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of industrial planning, logistics, inventory management and material planning
Technical Skills:
- Good knowledge of MRP and Production scheduling tools.
- Good knowledge of Excel
- Good level of data analysis and reporting
- Basics of Lean Manufacturing Tools
Behavioural Skills:
- Good communication skills and ability to work in teams
- Innovative, pro-active and positive
- Customer-oriented and goal-oriented
- Sense of urgency
