Position Information Job Title Term Certain Instructor - Health Care Aide Program Appointment Type Full-time Temporary Position Dates August 1, 2024 - June 30, 2026 Hours per week/FTE 1.0 FTE About the Position The Centre for Health and Wellness, School of Allied Health, invites applications for a Term-Certain instructor in our Health Care Aide Program. This position will commence full-time on August 1, 2024, and end on June 30, 2026. Position Details We seek a dynamic individual who is strongly committed to educating and inspiring students and demonstrates a passion for teaching and learning. The ideal candidate demonstrates a respectful approach and is self-motivated and learner-centred. The individual will work collaboratively within a small instructional team and the Centre for Health and Wellness team by demonstrating engagement in the program as an employee of Lethbridge College. Teaching Health Care Aide Students in a theory and/or lab setting Clinical teaching in a health care facility – rural travel may be required Seeks excellence in teaching by applying and evaluating various teaching strategies Fosters an environment of inquiry, valuing evidence-informed practice Participates as a member of the faculty team in developing and implementing effective teaching strategies and program initiatives Instructor duties as per the instructor roles and responsibilities document (attached for reference) A two-week new instructor orientation may be required in August 2024 Required Qualifications Instructors teaching the Government of Alberta HCA Provincial Curriculum (2019) must be regulated nurses in Alberta and be in good standing with their regulatory college with no conditions on their practice permit. Regulated Nurses in Alberta include Registered Nurses (degree preferred), Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Licensed Practical Nurses The minimum nursing experience for interested candidates is one-year full time equivalent (1500 worked hours) clinical nursing or nursing education experience in Canada within the three years immediately preceding teaching in the HCA Program
Candidates must have a minimum one of the following: One year adult teaching experience A Baccalaureate degree preferred HCA Program experience preferred Completion of an adult teaching/learning education program
