Your Opportunity:

As part of the Allied Heath & Patient Experience (AHPE) team at Alberta Hospital Edmonton (AHE), the Mental Health Therapist (MHT) is primarily responsible for direct clinical service to individuals with complex mental health and addictions related concerns. The successful candidate will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in assessment, consultation, referral, crisis management, case management and treatment.The successful candidate will support young adults between the age of 17-26 and work collaboratively with multiple disciplines to provide a spectrum of services within an Acute Services service-delivery area. The MHT will focus on concurrent recovery and strengths-based interventions to support the patient, and their families, with their identified areas of need. This will include collaboration with external providers to support discharge planning, including referrals to community and/or residential addictions treatment. In addition to supporting unit 12A, the MHT will be involved in providing a portion of services to centralized programming that will meet the needs of the assigned population, as well as others requiring the targeted services being provided.

Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Certification and experience in therapeutic interventions, including but not limited to, effective de-escalation techniques, CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness.Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the assessment and treatment of young adults with mental health concerns/diagnoses.
