About Umicore Battery Materials in Canada

Umicore is preparing to build a battery materials production plant in Loyalist Township, Ontario - the first of its kind in North America. The cutting-edge facility will be a critical part of Canada’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. Throughout the design, construction, and operation of the plant, Umicore will be seeking a variety of professionals who share our passion for innovation and sustainability.

What you will be doing

For this new site, we are looking for a Financial Analyst, reporting to the Finance and Controlling Manager. In this role you will be responsible for providing financial insights and support to facilitate the successful establishment and growth of a manufacturing start-up during its greenfield operational phase. By effectively managing finances, analyzing performance, and mitigating risks, the financial analyst contributes to the company's financial stability and strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

Together with the Site’s Finance and Controlling Manager, run the monthly financial reporting process. Ensure the consolidated financials are reported on time and with high quality. Act as key resource in the development of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans. Develop financial models and other related supporting tools for these purposes. Determine standard costs and investigate variances with actual costs. Estimate product costs for existing and new products. Stay up-to-date on project budgets and project spending. Ad-hoc reporting and analysis to support and enhance strategic decision-making. Actively support the implementation of new systems and solutions (e.g.: PowerBI tools) driving operational efficiency within the site’s Finance & Controlling department. Assist in preparing presentations to the site and BU management team.

Who we are looking for

Masters or Bachelors degree in business administration, finance, accounting or similar fields  At least 2 years of proven experience as an analyst in a manufacturing environment (product costing, budgeting, forecasting). Strong computer skills including: MS office software (Excel, Access, Word and PowerBI) and financial management digital tools (SAP, Anaplan, etc…) Strong communication and presentation skills Excellent attention to detail Ability to identify, analyse and solve problems Analytical thinking, problem solving ability
