QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience

Graduation from a recognized nursing program or evidence of an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Three (3) to five (5) years recent, related experience, including two (2) years relevant clinical experience. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant or a practicing RPN registrant. Knowledge of current theories, technologies and practices in the psychogeriatric care area; of applicable legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and Adult Guardianship Act; and of adult education principles. Valid BC Driver's License.

  • Effective interpersonal and facilitation skills;

  • Ability to effectively employ human relation skills, including conflict resolution;
  • Demonstrated contribution to the professional and the organizational vision as it pertains to psychogeriatric clinical practice and patient/client care;
  • Demonstrated critical and analytical thinking, decision making, and problem solving skills;
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative practice and life long learning;
  • Computer skills, including the ability to use MS Office and other related computer technology;
  • A sound understanding of current and future nursing and health care issues and the potential impacts on nursing education and clinical practice;
  • Ability to operate related equipment; and
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
