Today is the day to boost your career Pinchin is seeking a Senior Building Science Technologist to join our Building Science and Sustainability team in our Richmond Office.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Senior Building Science Technologist will conduct on-site inspection, assessment and reporting services as required for a wide array of building science core services (Building Envelope Condition Assessments (BECA), Roof Condition Assessments (RCA), building envelope design for existing buildings, concrete / masonry rehabilitation, Property condition assessments (PCA) & capital planning / asset management, and related services) performed by the group.

A Day in the life of a Sr. Building Science Technologist at Pinchin:

Conduct investigations and assessments (PCA,BECA, RCA) to determine condition of various building element and write technical reports of findings, summarizing, collating and interpreting the results of field data along with making recommendationsConduct invasive building inspections and testing (ex. Roof cut tests, exploratory openings in exterior/interior walls, water / leak tests, etc.)Conduct quantity take offs, measurements and estimationDevelop designs and specifications for restoration projectsCarry out construction reviews to ensure quality standards and design requirements are achievedConduct PCAs and capital planning in accordance with the ASTM standards and best construction practices Creating detailed AutoCAD drawingsFinancial involvement and coordination with projectMaintain QA/QC protocols Maintain health and safety protocols as well as quality control within the groupPerform any other job-related duties that may be assigned 

What you bring to the Pinchin team:

College Diploma in Building Science, Architectural Technology / Science, Construction Technology or Civil Engineering Technology. Bachelor of Science or Applied Science is preferredBeing an EIT would be an asset for this role3 - 5 years’ experience as a Project Technologist in the Canadian Building Science industry having proficiency in conducting BECAs, RCAs, PCAsShould be familiar with various building envelope assemblies and other building systems like HVAC, mechanical and electrical, plumbing and fire and life safety systemsShould be able to assist the Project Managers and Engineers in conducting field reviews and developing field reports.Experience with PCAs in accordance with the ASTM - E 2018 – 15 Standard Guide will be considered an assetMust be proficient in preparing technical specifications and drawingsExperience in writing technical reports is a necessityProficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)Good communication skills and command on technical terms is a mustAbility to safely transport and carry 20-foot extension or folding ladder, hand tools and PPE is requiredValid driver’s license, insurance & personal vehicle required (work related travel expenses will be compensated)Availability to travel
