Description

The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below.

Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received. Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs. Present a positive image (well-groomed/dressed) and represent TSA well while on duty. Work with minimal supervision. Must comply with all Salvation Army policies, procedures, and associated legislation. Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:

Collect donations and petty cash and ensure donations are always kept secure.

Working Conditions:

This is a temporary casual relief position based on no standard weekly hours of work; there are no guaranteed hours Must be willing and able to work shifts that may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break. Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements. Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification. Local travel may be associated with this position. Work environment is typically in malls/stores Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Completed High School or equivalent Related experience is an asset

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES:

Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Reliable transportation to kettle location. Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs). Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures. Honest, courteous, and punctual; represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner. Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities. Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information. Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution. Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
