About This Faculty Role:

HTS has an exciting part-time opportunity for a Part-time School Chaplain who also teaches Religious Knowledge Kindergarten to Grade 8.

Reporting to the Head of School, the School Chaplain will be responsible for the ongoing spiritual development of Holy Trinity School by inspiring sound moral values and ensuring a healthy spirituality of the students, staff and community. This role will be responsible for leading classes related to faith and divinity. Nurture the understanding and caring of the emotional needs of the student and staff on a day-to-day basis. The Chaplain will also be responsible for leading services in the chapel during the week at a set time, and special services during the academic year. The Chaplain is responsible for a chapel that is meaningful for the students and brings them closer together as a community. Emphasis is placed on the moral, ethical and spiritual issues of the day examined within the Christian heritage, but also inclusive of the spiritual guidance and understanding of universal faiths. Chapel is a time where we reflect, honour the dignity and humanity and spiritual development of all our students. Readings, messages, homilies, etc. should be taken from a variety of sources. The Chaplain will also be responsible for providing counseling, including informal chats, spiritual guidance and/or formal sessions with students and staff facing problems and crisis intervention.

What You Need:

We are inviting candidates with the following qualifications to apply:

All requirements of the Anglican Diocese of Toronto have been fulfilled;

Bachelor of Arts in Religious Education and Masters in Theology, Divinity, or Religious Education are considered an asset.

Parish experience working with people of various ages and backgrounds;

Strong background in Christian theology, pastoral education, adolescent psychology, sociology and community building;

Teaching experience and/or experience in Chaplaincy or Youth Ministry is considered an asset

Evidence of basic counseling skills

The willingness and ability to collaborate with fellow teachers;

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with high attention to detail;

Great organizational, and people skills;

Experience working from a DEI framework;

Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide a safe environment and communicate effectively with all age groups;

Maintains strong spiritual and moral values.
