POSITION SUMMARY

:

The Clinical Informatics Nurse IV acts as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and functions under the vision, mission, values and strategic priorities of Prairie Mountain Health. The Clinical Informatics Nurse IV is responsible for ongoing training, development, monitoring and promotion of the standardized and effective use of clinical information systems to promote and support the delivery of best practice/evidence based, client focused and professionally endorsed clinical care.

The Nurse IV recognizes and fulfills their professional responsibilities by practicing in a manner consistent with professional obligations to take actions as per the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses, The College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses, The College of Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Psychiatric Nursing Practice, the scope of practice as defined by the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Act, and other Provincial and Federal legislation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overview:

The Clinical Informatics Nurse IV works closely with the Clinical Informatics team, lead by the Regional Manager of Clinical Informatics to support the various clinical information systems used in PMH. This support includes, but is not limited to policy and worflow development, new project support and implementation, and ongoing staff and provider training.

Coordinate the development of protocols, policies and procedures related to clinical information systems; Develop, coordinate, implement, deliver and evaluate educational programs for clinical information systems Support transition of clinical documentation from paper forms to electronic health records as required; Maintain a regional inventory of electronic/paper documentation tools/health record forms and chart sequence; Work collaboratively to assess, develop, conduct and evaluate clinical information system utilization and adoption; Provide support to all disciplines during clinical information system changes, activations, or upgrades Provide user support for users experiencing clinical information system issues, and reports issues as required Participate in testing of workflow/procedural changes and system enhancements. Participate in provincial Clinical Informatics activities, representing PMH stakeholder interests and liaising with external and internal stakeholders as required Communicate with and consult the Regional Manager Clinical Informatics on a regular basis to fulfill position responsibilities; Other duties as assigned.
