Wage range: $39.49 to $51.99
Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day
Primary location:  CASA Centre
Union:  In-scope
Classification:  Registered Nurse
FTE: 1.0 FE (36.25 hours/week)
Status:  Temporary (to approximately August 2025)

About the Role

The Triage and Transition team works with families beginning their journey at CASA, and those who are ready to transition out of CASA programs into the community. The team eliminates gaps in services, while offering a streamlined intake experience and a warm hand-off to community partners. Triage and Transition improves the patient’s journey through CASA as well as the service provider’s experience at CASA by way of ensuring the right patient is accessing the right program.

The Registered Nurse will: Conduct comprehensive bio-psycho-social mental health assessments for children and adolescents.  Provide nursing assessments and plans of care, including medication administration/monitoring, teaching, telephone follow-up and health promotion. Practice according to the code of ethics and practice standards of their specific professional college. Liaise with other professionals to promote continuity of care. Identify service delivery improvements and suggest enhancements, utilizing a lens of evidence-informed practice and with consideration to CASA’s strategic and operational plan. Maintain patient electronic health records in a complete and timely way. Work collaboratively with the research department to assist with critical appraisal, evaluation and knowledge transfer. Contribute to program and clinical team meetings.
Qualifications
  Member in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta. Minimum three years’ recent experience in pediatrics and mental health is required. Strong clinical assessment and evaluation skills. Relevant and practical experience in a child and adolescent mental health treatment setting. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, Familiarity with electronic medical records or similar information systems. Valid Class 5 operator’s license and access to transportation.
Conditions of Employment
  A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate. A satisfactory Child Intervention Check. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground. Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
