Clinical Nurse Educator

Reporting directly to the QEII Simulation Program Manager, Central Zone, the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) is accountable to promote attainment of clinical expertise through the development and provision of education that focuses on optimal patient care. Working collaboratively with surgical departments, as well as physician, nursing and other interprofessional health disciplines, the CNE demonstrates expertise as an educator in the clinical specialty; as well as demonstrating competency as a consultant, researcher, facilitator, change agent, and leader. They foster a culture of learning to build capacity and support safe practice, advances professional practice through the development and implementation of transition to practice programs and ongoing practice and professional development that integrates a learner centered approach. They are responsible for developing, planning, executing, and evaluating learning experiences.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
- Master of Nursing/Health Care/Education preferred
- Current registration (in good standing) with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing required
- Minimum 3 years clinical full-time nursing experience within the last five years required, Peri-Op preferred
- Experience in working at a Simulation/Skills Centre preferred
- Relevant CNA or other specialty certification required or willingness to complete
- BLS-C (HCP) certification required, ACLS certification an asset
- Diploma or certificate in Adult Education (or equivalent) an asset or a willingness to complete
- Leadership Development Education an asset or willingness to complete
- Skills in education strategies (i.e. classroom, online learning & clinical teaching inclusive of low to high fidelity & in-situ simulation education)
- Evidence of training in delivery of learning programs such as ACLS, PALS, ATLS is an asset
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders
- Previous teaching experience which involves designing, implementing and evaluating both traditional & non-traditional methods of instruction preferred
- Recent professional development relevant to maintaining currency in clinical practice & education
- Comprehensive computer literacy including complete Microsoft Suite, computer documentation systems, Learning Management Systems, Web-Based Classrooms & Discussion Boards, audio-visual multi-media and medical technologies, simulation software and applications (i.e., B-Line, SIM-Pad, SIM-IQ), clinical applications to enable design, implementation and evaluation of learning/training/simulation
- Well developed verbal & written communication skills
- Experience with group facilitation preferred
- Ability to manage conflict, stressful situations and competing demands
- Physical demands – setting up rooms, walking & standing, movement of educational resources/tools with facilities & across sites
- Skills and experience in promoting learning cultures that nurture equity, diversity and inclusivity with a focus on intersectional values, analysis, and actions, clinical humility, and the responsible use of power and privilege.
- Competencies in other languages preferred, French an asset

$49.80 - $59.44 hourly

$61.52 hourly ($, annually) with 25 years' RN experience
