POSITION PURPOSE
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, is responsible for reviewing Water and Wastewater designs; assisting with the preparation of contract drawings, tender documents, specifications and estimates; and assisting with project management for Water and Wastewater construction projects.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists with the preparation of drawings and contract documents such as tenders, estimates and specifications for water and wastewater construction projects. Reviews and provides comments on designs, tenders, specifications and documents prepared by Consultants and prepares cost sharing estimates. Prepares and evaluates design alternatives and provides recommendation based on technical merit. Analyzes data to determine design requirements. Monitors project management reporting by Consultants and responsible for ensuring the digital project reporting and business platforms are current Coordinates the circulation and review of planning and design documents among Regional stakeholders and consolidates input for incorporation into final versions Coordinates various internal and external meetings to engage with stakeholders and accomplish project objectives Complete critical review and provide recommendation on Consultant and Contractor change requests  Carries out site inspections to ensure accuracy of base plans and special detail design situations. Calculates or checks quantities, cost estimates and payment recommendations for construction projects and for development projects affecting Regional water and wastewater projects. Liaises with internal and external staff, outside agencies, contractors, consultants and the public on construction projects and provides technical information. Attends public information and public consultation centres and acts as Regional representative for Water and Wastewater capital projects.


QUALIFICATIONS

Successful completion of a three year Community College Diploma Program in Civil/Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical Engineering Technology or Environmental Technology. Knowledge of fundamental aspects of water and wastewater operations, maintenance, design, surveying and survey applications. Familiarity with relevant legislation, guidelines and standards. Thorough knowledge of theory, principles and practices of planning, design and construction and Ministry water and wastewater policies and procedures. Valid Ontario Class “G” drivers’ license and reliable vehicle to use on corporate business. Attend offsite offices and meetings throughout the GTA.
