REGISTERED NURSE – OR (POST ANAESTHETIC CARE UNIT)
(CASUAL)
POSITION OVERVIEW:
A casual Registered Nurse position is available in the Operating Room, in the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU).
This position will be responsible for comprehensive nursing care within the Recovery Room as established by the standards of nursing practice with the College of Nurses of Ontario and according to policies and procedures as set out by GMCH. This position will collaborate with the interprofessional team to provide airway assessment and management, cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, pulse oximetry, and ongoing nursing assessment, diagnosis, and intervention to all patients in the PACU.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) BScN an asset Post Graduate Course in Perioperative Nursing, preferred Membership in RNAO and CNA is an asset - years OR experience Current BCLS Current certificate in ACLS & PALS or willingness to obtain Post Anesthetic Care Nursing certificate/course or willingness to obtainPACU/ICU/Emergency nursing experience an asset Demonstrated excellent communication skills both verbal and written Proven organizational and critical-thinking skills Ability to function as an effective interdisciplinary team member Ability to assume a leadership/charge role Understanding of evidence based practice and standards of Operating Room nursing Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and willingness to actively participate in departmental educational activities
Demonstrated ability to provide exemplary patient and family centered care Satisfactory performance and attendance required Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment including providing proof of full COVID vaccination prior to being hired
HOURS:
Standard hours: Monday – Friday -On an as needed basis
