Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Classification: Laboratory Assistant I Union: HSAA FAC PROF/TECH Unit and Program: Laboratory Primary Location: St. Mary's Hospital Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 0.60 Posting End Date: 08-MAY-2024 Temporary Employee Class: Temp P/T Benefits Date Available: 17-JUN-2024 Temporary End Date: 21-JUL-2025 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 10 Shifts per cycle: 30 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $23.72 Maximum Salary: $29.56 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience performing macroscopic and microscopic urinalysis testing. Strong Phlebotomy skills. Proven interpersonal, oral and written communications skills are required. Excellent public relations and a service-oriented manner are essential. Must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with patients/clients, families, staff, interdisciplinary team members and personnel from other departments in a fast-paced and changing environment. Proven analytic and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, logical/methodical work habits and demonstrated ability to work independently are required. Candidate must be well organized and flexible. Must be able to represent Laboratory Medicine in a respectful, professional and courteous manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in the past two years: Work in Healthcare facility. Phlebotomy, Venipuncture, and micro. Connect Care LIS, Maintenance on: Clinitek Advantus, Centrifuges. Cleaning the fridges and freezers. Cleaning the Plasma Thawing device in TM.
