The Instructional Designer manages a portfolio of course design and development projects and ensures quality for both online and face-to-face course projects.  The Instructional Designer leads the project function by working in a team environment with faculty and staff to design, develop and deliver all components of courses.  The Instructional Designer acts as the CTET point of contact for their assigned program area for issues related to curriculum.  The Instructional Designer provides training to instructors on effective technical and pedagogical use of the online learning environment and liaises with and advises academic and business units with respect to technology-enabled learning.  The Instructional Designer also researches, writes and presents on the latest trends and issues in pedagogy/andragogy and technology.

Job Requirements
  • Graduate degree in educational psychology, educational technology, distance education or a related field
  • Minimum three years’ experience in designing and delivering online courses preferably in a post-secondary environment
  • Experience working on teams with technical professionals and faculty
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to research and/or create innovative solutions
  • Strong instructional and presentation skills (online and face-to-face)
  • Ability to work to deadlines, juggling multiple priorities and tasks
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, including writing and editing
  • Ability to work as a positive, contributing member of a team in a service-oriented approach
  • Strong computer skills (web applications, other educational technologies, MS Office suite)
  • Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS) (e.g.:  Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, etc.)
Additional Information This is a regular, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week. This position has been evaluated at MPT-D with a salary range of $84,423 (minimum) to $99,223 (midpoint) to $114,023 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
