DESCRIPTION: Thompson Construction Group has an immediate opening for a Financial Analyst. This position is responsible to review, capture, and provide a full consolidation of all Thompson Construction Group companies translating financial information into actionable insights to guide business decisions. This position demands a proactive approach to improve department financial analysis and reporting by automating specific accounting functions for all companies.

Primary Functions/Responsibilities:

Participate in monthly or scheduled meetings of the Finance Team to review accounting issues, status of current projects, upcoming projects, month-end preparations, etc. Perform routine financial analysis including preparation, analysis, and reporting of financial information by general accounting practices and processes. Maintain various account reconciliations. Prepare periodic or special reports/studies as requested by the Chief Financial Officer. Lead the quarterly or annual forecasting process. Present monthly and quarterly financial reports to senior executives, providing actionable insights and recommendations. Perform variance analysis between actuals, budget, and forecast.

Accounting, Financial Reporting & Analysis Management

Build an expert level of knowledge and understanding of Explorer software program, including applications for accounting and payroll systems, GL accounts, and monthly reporting. When requested by the Chief Financial Officer, aid with audits or third-party accounting initiatives. Help to develop a corporate-wide budgeting process and work with individual departments to build, maintain and report on budgets.

Ideal Candidates will possess the following:

Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities Strong organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail ensuring deadlines are met. Prefer to work in a collaborative environment, avoiding silo thinking and behaviors. Effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Required Skills:

Advanced knowledge of corporate consolidations Advanced knowledge of Excel Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. CPA or CFA designation is an asset. 2 to 3 years of experience in financial planning and analysis. Previous experience in the heavy construction industry using Explorer Contract Manager software would be considered a plus.
