Certified Horticulture Technician

Duties & Responsibilities:
Survey and assess designated projects and jobsitesResponsible for constructing and maintaining gardensPlan job in an effective manner to ensure optimum job efficiency and effectivenessUse and operate tools and equipment used in horticulturePlant seeds and transplant seedlingsTree, shrub, and plant examination and treatmentCare for growing plants by watering, pruning, weeding, cultivating, and removing dead or damaged leaf tissueInspect, handle, and transport nursery stockSpread top soil and lay sodPlant fertilization and wateringPrune trees, shrubs, and hedgesGeneral lawn and garden maintenanceOperate power mowers, push mowers, tractors, blowers, electric clippers, pruning saws and other landscape maintenance equipmentPerform other manual duties to clean and maintain landscaped environments, shop & equipmentAssist with landscape constructions when neededComplete daily paperwork, tracking job time and material costsWear appropriate personal protective equipment at all timesComply with all company policies and regulationsWork in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulationsCommunicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner

Requirements:
Completion of college, vocational, or technical trainingHorticulturist Trade Certification or Lawn Gardener Trade CertificationMinimum 1-2 years of experiencePlant knowledge and identification, specifically trees, shrubs, and perennialsAbility to read and interpret blueprints and specificationsPhysically fit with strong staminaBasic measurement and calculation skillsAbility to follow safe working proceduresExcellent observation skills and a strong attention to detailGood analytical and problem-solving skillsEffective communication skills (both verbal and written)Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a teamSpeak, read, and write EnglishMust possess a clean/valid driver’s license 

Education and/or Experience:

Work Conditions:
Job requires ability to work with hand tools, small engine equipment, and materialsAbility to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shiftAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentRequires good manual dexterityExcellent stamina is requiredWork near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold Flexible working hours including occasional weekend work
