Dexter Construction is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces. We are looking to grow our team and currently seeking the qualifications and expertise of a Surveyor based out of our Bedford, Bridgewater and Valley, NS Operations.

Job Summary:
In this position, the successful candidate will direct and conduct surveys to determine property boundaries, and prepare and maintain plans and records to ensure we are able to complete the job.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide work control lines and elevations required for accurate measurement and correct installation of materialsAssist with performing layout work competently and accuratelyProvide topographic and cross-section surveys as required for planning and payment quantitiesMaintain condition and adjustment of surveying equipmentCoordinate surveying activities with the assigned engineer to meet the construction requirementsProtect and promote the interest of the company in all matters and to take actions as required to satisfy such responsibilitiesEnsure safety of fellow employeesPerform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

Post-secondary education with a concentration in surveying/engineeringAt least 3-5 years of surveying experienceMust have a thorough knowledge of construction surveyingCAD experience is considered an assetStrong communication and problem-solving skillsWillingness to work in a team environmentAbility to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible mannerComply with all safety policies and proceduresAbility to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed properlyWorking safely is a condition of employment.
