Business Intelligence Analyst – Alliants Location: Canada Remote • Salary: $135,000 – $150,000 CAD per year • Travel: occasional visits to client HQ Washington DC and potential client site visits. As a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst in our growing Data Division, you will be the pivotal link between clients’ complex data and strategic business decisions. Job Responsibilities Partner closely with client stakeholders across various business functions to understand strategic objectives, operational challenges, and reporting requirements. Lead discovery sessions and workshops to define KPIs and translate complex business logic into clear technical specifications for BI solutions. Design, develop, and maintain intuitive Power BI reports and dashboards that provide actionable insights for executive and operational teams. Champion data visualisation best practices to drive user adoption. Develop and optimise robust, scalable Power BI data models using dimensional modelling best practices (star schemas). Collaborate with Data Engineering teams on curated data layers in modern cloud platforms (e.g., data lakehouse) to ensure data is modelled correctly for analytics. Contribute to data governance, ensuring consistency, reliability, and accuracy in all BI solutions. Conduct ad‑hoc and exploratory analysis to uncover trends, identify opportunities, and answer complex business questions. Provide training and support to empower client teams to use self‑service analytics tools effectively. Job Requirements 4+ years in Business Intelligence or Data Analyst roles. Experience working with sensitive data in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare). Expert‑level proficiency in Power BI – complex DAX, advanced data modelling, performance optimisation. Strong experience with Power Query (M) for data transformation. Advanced SQL skills for complex querying, data profiling, and validation. Experience in stakeholder management and translating ambiguous requirements into deliverables. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with a keen eye for detail. Client‑facing or consulting experience. Familiarity with modern cloud data stacks (Azure Synapse, Snowflake, Databricks). Experience migrating analytics from legacy systems to cloud platforms. Understanding of data engineering and data warehousing concepts. Excellent communicator, able to explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical audiences. Collaborative, proactive, self‑motivated, and organised. Passionate about building sustainable, scalable analytics solutions. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Benefits Competitive salary. Up to 10% annual bonus.
