Vice President Business Banking Cultivates, builds, and manages relationships with a portfolio of small business clients to build a pipeline of new business and increase BMO’s market share. Applies professional consultative sales and business development practices and techniques for an assigned jurisdiction/portfolio. Leads and executes market business development plans to achieve business goals. Proactively develops and executes sales strategies to attract new business clients and expand existing relationships. Develops internal and external networks and referral sources to ensure ongoing growth of BMO's business. Generates appointments and opportunities to grow business results through targeted sales efforts. Identifies prospective customers and cross-sells additional products and services to meet their needs. Develops client rapport and instils confidence to develop credibility and earn their trust as relationship manager. Understands the local market and proactively develops relationships with centres of influence. Oversees the provision of client service levels to achieve business results. Monitors sales and performance targets against plans to reinforce sales process and client and prospect experience, identify gaps, issues, and best practices, and create and sustain consistent superior service. Makes recommendations to senior leaders on strategy and new initiatives, based on an in-depth understanding of the business/group. Acts as a subject matter expert on relevant regulations and policies. Acts as a trusted advisor to assigned business/group. Influences and negotiates to achieve business objectives. Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making. Develops solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs. Manages resources and leads the execution of strategic initiatives to deliver on business and financial goals. Helps determine business priorities and best sequence for execution of business/group strategy. Develops the business case by identifying needs, analysing potential options and assessing expected return on investment. Recommends business priorities, advises on resource requirements and develops roadmap for strategic execution. Acts as the prime subject matter expert for internal / external stakeholders. Manages databases and provides support for analysis, forecasting and/or data visualization, ensuring adherence with data governance standards. Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations. Monitors and tracks performance, and addresses any issues. Leads change management programs of varying scope and type, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment of initiatives. Leads the development of the communication strategy focusing on positively influencing or changing behaviour. Leads the execution of operational programs; assesses and adapts as needed to ensure quality of execution. Develops and manages a business/group program. Reviews the program for effectiveness, considers industry trends and recommends enhancements; makes changes as required. Oversees the design, development, and implementation of tools and training required to deliver business results. Follows security and safeguarding procedures and applies due diligence in accordance with Bank’s policies and ethical standards for the prevention of loss due to fraud, robbery, counterfeiting, money laundering, or defalcation. Maintains the confidentiality of customer and Bank information in compliance with Bank policies and procedures. Identifies risks and takes appropriate actions, including all documentation and other regulatory requirements to maintain operational integrity. Operates at a group/enterprise-wide level and serves as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders. Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine. Implements changes in response to shifting trends. Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed. Qualifications Typically 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful completion of CMS Compass Program or equivalent knowledge and experience – required. In-depth knowledge of business banking products, lending processes and loan documentation, and supporting policies, procedures, and technologies. In-depth experience with customer sales and service. Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge. Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth / Expert. Analytical and problem solving skills - In-depth / Expert. Influence skills - In-depth / Expert. Collaboration & team skills; with a focus on cross-group collaboration - In-depth / Expert. Able to manage ambiguity. Data driven decision making - In-depth / Expert. Salary and Pay Type $86,000.00 - $160,000.00. Salaried. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position. BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
