Our colleague experience is an area of obsessive focus. Opportunity Courses meet once or twice a week for eight weeks. Face‑to‑face interaction is blended with technology (such as online discussions and online assignments) for an enhanced learning environment. Faculty are responsible for facilitating student learning by teaching courses and programs in accordance with DeVry University requirements. Faculty develop course syllabi and lesson plans and apply teaching techniques to best achieve course and programmatic objectives. All DeVry instructors will participate in a comprehensive faculty training program and ongoing faculty development activities to ensure the highest quality instruction. DeVry University does not guarantee any specific number of work hours or assignments, which may vary based on the University’s needs and discretion. Responsibilities Develop and provide students with an approved DeVry University syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, including the terminal course objectives. Organize, prepare, and regularly revise all course materials. Use appropriate technological options for online technologies and course‑related software, including websites, e‑mail, and online discussions for course preparation and accessibility. Model effective oral and written communication that engages students, provides clarity, and improves student learning. Set clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examination dates, and weighting of evaluation categories. Ensure that content and level of material on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives. Demonstrate consistency and fairness in exam preparation and grading, and provide timely feedback to students. Complete other duties as assigned. Qualifications A master’s degree is required for all faculty positions, along with 18 graduate credit hours in the subject being taught (English, rhetoric, or communications). Ph.D. preferred Please upload a copy of your unofficial transcripts (graduate level and above) with your application. Experience teaching college composition preferred. Experience using and teaching APA style. Experience as a writer or editor in an academic setting. Success teaching first‑year students. Qualifying credentials must be awarded by an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or by a national or international institution determined to hold equivalent accreditation. Additional requirements driven by state licensing or accreditation considerations may apply. Faculty must have requisite subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills. Faculty must also have excellent motivational and instructional skills in a diverse and non‑traditional environment. Must work collaboratively and facilitate the efforts of diverse groups. Pay Pay may vary in most states from $1,500 to $2,700 per 8‑week session. In AZ, CA, IN, and PA the rate is either $22.00 or $23.50 per hour.
