Substation Electrical Engineer Protection and Control Location: Montreal or Toronto office. Salary: CAD 80,000 – 120,000 per year. Posted 4 weeks ago. Job type: Permanent. Responsibilities Engineering and discipline project design activities relating to concept, pre‑feasibility, feasibility studies, EPCM and EPC projects. Collaboration with Process and Mechanical Departments Collaboration with Utility Power Providers Update and maintain the electrical database for the project Cable Schedule Electrical Equipment List Electrical Equipment Datasheets High, Medium and Low Voltage Single Line Diagrams Electrical Schematic and Wiring Diagrams Procurement of Electrical Equipment Harmonic studies Protection relay programming Protection relay testing using secondary current injection Technical Support Package Management Construction technical support Documentation and handover Update and maintain the electrical database for the project using software such as SQL, EPLAN Carry out innovative detailed designs as required for specific disciplines following good engineering practices. Ensure that the discipline designs are carried out in accordance with client standards and specifications, industry standards and the relevant legislation (quality of design). Ensure (certified) design information received from vendors, contractors and consultants is accurate and interfaces with other designs. Ensure the effective (peer) review and approval of discipline design. Carry the responsibility for the engineering discipline sign off. Interface with internal and external design and drafting disciplines. Provide discipline inputs for studies and proposals. Onsite presence to provide engineering support to the contractor. Onsite presence for commissioning discipline activities. Manage the mark‑up and back drafting of redline drawings.
