Network Analyst

Systems Analyst, Network & Security Medicine Hat College’s Information Technology Services invites applications for a regular full-time Systems Analyst, Network & Security. This is an in-person onsite position at Medicine Hat College. This position may be eligible for our Flexible Work arrangement once the 12-month probationary period is completed. A little about the role: This position is a team member of the ITS Operations Team and will primarily focus on researching, analyzing, recommending, and implementing network related security practices (policy and processes) and monitoring systems to help ensure the security of MHC IT networks. Additionally, this position will also design, implement, support, and maintain college networking infrastructure, which includes firewall, antivirus, switching, routing, AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting) security, UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply), telephony/VoIP (Voice over IP), security camera systems, and wireless networks. This position will lead the planning, design, implementation, analysis and technical support for wireless, local, wide area, and data communications networks (including fibre, ethernet cabling, telephony/VoIP) as well as conduct research and evaluation of network technology and recommend purchases of network equipment. As a successful applicant you will have: A Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR an equivalent combination of related education and work experience. 2 years of experience with any combination of the following: Network related security practices, security monitoring systems, cyber security policy/processes and tools. Design, implementing, operating, and troubleshooting Internet, Supernet, data network, wireless, telephony/VoIP, and security camera environments. Network administration Proficiency in the operation of current Windows Servers The use of scripts in a Windows environment Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to provide technical information and solutions to clients. Knowledge of network administration, computer and server administration, scripting, computer applications including Cisco ISE, Cisco Catalyst Center and NEC software in the Windows Enterprise environment. SIEM (Security and Information Event Management) and Microsoft Defender security knowledge cloud (Azure) security knowledge Knowledge of Penetration/Vulnerability testing practices such as MITRE ATT&CK (MITRE Adversarial Tactics, Techniques, and Common Knowledge). Required Licenses/Certifications Certifications within the Cisco and/or NEC environments are preferred. Cyber security certifications Physical Requirements Ability to safely lift and carry equipment and climb ladders as needed.
