Job Title : Intermediate Archaeologist Location : Kelowna, Castlegar, Cranbrook, Kamloops or Rossland, British Columbia. Overview WSP is inviting applications for an Intermediate Archaeologist to join its Heritage team in British Columbia. The role involves leading and managing archaeological projects across the province, working with interdisciplinary teams and Indigenous stakeholders. Responsibilities Lead archaeological field programs, including survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring. Collaborate with project teams to meet technical requirements for clients, Indigenous groups, and regulatory agencies. Work collaboratively and respectfully with Indigenous communities during all project lifecycle stages. Provide leadership and guidance to junior project staff. Manage scope, schedule, and budget throughout the project lifecycle. Maintain health and safety, quality, communication, and documentation standards. Participate in WSP’s Health & Safety program, demonstrating a “Safety First” focus. Undertake analysis and prepare proposals and technical reports. Qualifications Field Director status in the Interior Plateau provincial cultural area, or actively working toward Field Director qualification. Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team. Willingness and passion for working with Indigenous groups and communities. Experience identifying, recording, and evaluating archaeological sites. Ability to perform field work in diverse weather conditions and varying durations. Experience with data collection equipment (GPS, handheld tablets). ESRI Field Maps experience is an asset. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. Detail-oriented and results-focused mindset. Strong written and oral communication skills. High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethics. Strong writing skills and experience writing interim and final permit reports. Valid driver’s license (Class 5). First aid and other safety tickets are assets.
