Base Pay Range $56.00/hr - $154.00/hr Position Information Position: Accounting ExpertType: Hourly contractLocation: RemoteCommitment: 10–20 hours/week Role Responsibilities Oversee the accounting cycle, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and monthly close. Prepare and maintain financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) to inform leadership decisions. Track budgets and forecasts, performing detailed variance and trend analysis. Manage accounts payable and receivable, expense reimbursements, and vendor relationships. Develop and enforce accounting policies and internal control systems tailored to a scaling AI startup. Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and finance consultants to ensure compliance and accuracy. Implement automation and system improvements to streamline financial reporting and data integrations. Advise leadership on financial process optimization, cost structure, and operational efficiency. Qualifications 5+ years of professional accounting or controllership experience. Professional certification (CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent) strongly preferred. Proven experience in tech or AI‑focused startups, or high‑growth environments. Advanced knowledge of GAAP or IFRS, reconciliations, and financial reporting standards. Proficiency with cloud‑based accounting tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite) and Excel/Sheets. Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data clearly. Exceptional attention to detail, reliability, and organizational skills. Comfortable working independently and communicating effectively across remote teams.
