The Role Under the direction of the Manager of Development & Transportation, the Drainage Superintendent is responsible for: Investigating drainage concerns and maintaining existing municipal drains as specified in current Engineer’s Reports. Assisting the Drainage Engineer in preparing new reports. Preparing tender documents and overseeing construction and maintenance of municipal drains. Reviewing, inspecting, and providing technical comments on subdivision plans, site plans, and lot grading certificates. Preparing tender documents and coordinating utility planning, issuance of permits, and related agreements. Qualifications College diploma in Construction Technology or Civil Engineering Technology, plus a minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Class G Driver’s Licence with abstract acceptable to City guidelines. Class 1 Water Distribution Certificate considered an asset. Successful completion of, or ability to obtain certification through, the OMAFRA Drainage Superintendent Course. Working knowledge of the Drainage Act. Experience in land development, drainage, design, and construction. Field work experience related to inspection of municipal and private utility infrastructure. Proven written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to conduct formal public meetings. Excellent computer skills. Organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Familiarity with GPS and Total Station survey equipment; ability to undertake complete and accurate topographic surveys (asset). The Candidate The successful candidate should possess the following experience, knowledge, and competencies: Successful completion of, or ability to obtain certification through, the OMAFRA Drainage Superintendent Course. Working knowledge of the Drainage Act. Experience in land development, drainage, design, and construction. Field work experience related to inspection of municipal and private utility infrastructure. Proven written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to conduct formal public meetings. Excellent computer skills. Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Familiarity with GPS and Total Station survey equipment; ability to undertake complete and accurate topographic surveys (asset).
