About the opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Microbiologist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in microbiological testing, adhering to regulatory standards, and supporting quality assurance in a service laboratory environment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct microbiological analysis of pharmaceutical, NHPs, cannabis, food, and environmental samples.
• Perform routine and non-routine microbiological testing, including but not limited to bioburden, sterility, pathogen detection, and environmental monitoring.
• Maintain and troubleshoot microbiological instruments and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as GMP, ISO 17025, and Health Canada standards.
• Document and interpret test results accurately and promptly in line with laboratory protocols.
• Develop and validate microbiological methods as needed.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior laboratory staff.
• Participate in internal and external audits and support the laboratory’s quality assurance initiatives.
• Participates in Laboratory Investigations, Out of Specification Investigations, Change Control and CAPA programs
• Stay updated on advancements in microbiological testing and regulatory changes relevant to the industries served.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Microbiology or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a service laboratory environment.
• Expertise in microbiological testing for pharmaceuticals, NHPs, cannabis, food, and environmental samples.
• Knowledge and experience of GMP guidelines, quality systems as well as USP and EP Pharmacopeia standards
• Knowledge of Microbial IDs and investigations
• Knowledge of GMP, ISO 17025, and relevant regulatory guidelines.
• Strong technical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in laboratory management software and tools.
• Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with method development and validation.
• Familiarity with rapid microbiological methods and automation technologies.
• Leadership experience in managing laboratory teams.
