Job Summary Snapwise Inc is the team behind Ground News. Ground is a powerful news platform. We use automated and manual processes to identify and combine articles on the web that are talking about the same news story. We put these sources side by side to let you see how all sides are covering it by annotating each source with metadata such as bias reviews, factuality reviews as well as ownership information. We have topped Product Hunt (and done well a few other times), we’re frequently featured in the Apple App Store and our site has even been retweeted by the POTUS. Your position, should you choose to accept it, will be that of a Front-end / Full-Stack Co‑op Engineer. Job Responsibilities Develop and refine components using React Server Components (RSC) and Next.js App Router Build efficient data‑fetching patterns for SSR, SSG, and ISR workflows Integrate APIs and optimize edge caching and revalidation strategies Improve Web Performance Vitals (LCP, CLS, FID, TTFB) through profiling and optimization Collaborate with backend engineers to ensure seamless data delivery Contribute to UI/UX consistency, semantic HTML, and accessibility best practices Participate in GitHub PRs, code reviews, and sprint discussions Explore emerging techniques in streaming, parallel rendering, and caching Required Skills Must have Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Strong understanding of React 18+, TypeScript, and Next.js fundamentals. Familiarity with fetching patterns (fetch caching, use hooks, server actions). Basic knowledge of REST APIs, Node.js, and Git workflows. Curiosity for performance, SEO, and how rendering decisions affect user experience. A collaborative attitude, willingness to learn, and attention to detail. Nice to have Experience with NextJs, Vercel, or Caching. Exposure to A/B testing, feature flags, or analytics tools (Lighthouse, Web Vitals, GA4). Familiarity with Edge Functions, Server Actions, or Cache revalidation.
