CultureSmith has partnered with STRAIT on their current search to add a new Senior Vice President Finance to the group.

STRAIT delivers underground infrastructure construction solutions supporting oil & gas projects across Western Canada.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the President, the SVP Finance will oversee all Compliance (Accounting/Finance, IT Systems, QHSE and Contracts Management) related activities of the company, providing strategic guidance, and ensure the company's overall financial health and sustainability.

This role will have 4 Direct Reports: Corporate Controller, VP QHSE, Manager-Systems, Manager-Contracts


Compliance group responsibilities:


Accounting/Finance:

SVP Finance reports into the President and has responsibility for:

  • Corporate Controller, Payroll, Project Administrators
  • Accounting functions, including payroll and benefits
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • BOD reporting
  • Banking and insurance
  • Corporate legal
  • Support M&A

Systems:

Manager-Systems reports into the SVP Finance and has responsibility for:

  • Managing the IT Systems Program, Changes and Development
  • Executing BPM Program
  • Systems Support & Training
  • Understanding Department Workflows
  • Workflow Automation
  • BI Reporting
  • Liaison with Managed IT Provider

QHSE:

VP QHSE reports into the SVP Finance and has responsibility for:

  • HSE Program
  • QC Program
  • HR / onboarding Program
  • Contractor Management Program
  • Document Management Program
  • Regulatory Liaison
  • External & Internal Pre-qualification Software
  • ISN, Complyworks Etc.
  • Regulatory Liaison

Contracts:

Manager Contracts reports into the SVP Finance and has responsibility for:

  • MSA ownership
  • Project contract review and audit
  • Vendor Management program
  • Review, coach and adherence to customer MSA’s and individual project contracts
  • Support with all contracts within the company

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • CPA designation.
  • Proven track record of 10+ years in senior leadership roles, with experience in strategic financial planning, analysis, board reporting, IT Systems, QHSE and Contracts Management.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Previous experience in construction or a projects-based energy services environment preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Contributes to a strong team culture through leadership and an ability to link all aspects of corporate activities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Prepared to travel to company field offices and locations as required.
