The Tax and Estate Planning team provides tax and estate planning support to advisors and planners to protect and grow their clients’ wealth. This position reports to the Vice President, Tax and Estate Planning and is located in the Toronto office. Responsibilities Work with and assist Ontario and Atlantic Canada based Retail Distribution teams in accelerating business development opportunities. Identify tax and estate planning issues encountered by financial advisors and provide detailed responses via the Tax and Estate Planning Resource Centre. Work with Retail Distribution teams to provide education and up‑to‑date information in presentations to advisors and investors. Support Retail Distribution teams in advisor/investor education relating to the Mackenzie Charitable Giving Fund and Registered Disability Savings Plan. Present at Dealer and at Mackenzie Investments Due Diligence conferences. Actively develop content on various tax and estate planning subject matters. Support Mackenzie Private Wealth by researching and developing comprehensive tax and estate summary reports for high‑net‑worth clients. Collaborate with other members of the Tax and Estate Planning team as needed. Conduct research to assist the VP in preparing for print and/or broadcast media interviews. Qualifications Expert understanding of Canadian domestic tax. Strong knowledge of philanthropy, donor advised funds, and disability planning. In-depth understanding of Canadian estate laws. Proficiency in wills, estates, and trust administration. Good grasp of the mutual fund industry to ensure services stay within department mandate. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. Proficiency using tax and estate planning resources (Income Tax Act, CRA guides, Ernst & Young databases, CCH Canada databases, etc.). Legal or accounting designation (JD, LLB, LLM, taxation law, MTax, CPA). TEP, CFP, or FEA designations are assets. Progress towards completion of Levels I, II, III of the CPA In‑Depth Tax Course is an asset. Travel is a major component of this role.
