Senior Engineering Manager (Institutional - Exchange) - Canada Crypto Jobs Job Description Mission : Increase economic freedom through crypto and blockchain by building the emerging onchain platform —the financial system of the future. Title : Senior Engineering Manager – Institutional (Exchange) Location : Remote, Canada You’ll lead the development of ultra-low latency, mission-critical systems supporting Coinbase’s global crypto derivatives business. Lead and scale teams responsible for submillisecond trading systems : Matching engines Order management Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape the technical roadmap and product vision . Drive architectural decisions and high-quality engineering standards . Foster a culture of operational excellence , reliability, and accountability. Coach and grow direct reports; manage managers . Partner with Talent to recruit exceptional engineers . Own and refine engineering processes to meet SLA targets . 10+ years in software engineering; 5+ years in engineering management (including 2 years managing managers ). Experience building 24/7 financial trading systems (esp. crypto or derivatives). Proven leadership of complex distributed systems at scale . Able to get hands-on when necessary (code reviews, incident response, on-call, etc.). Strong execution mindset, capable of balancing long-term vision with short-term planning . Passion for building an open financial system . Experience running exchanges at global scale. Deep Operating Systems or networking expertise. Experience with cloud + on-prem infrastructure.
